Why Extended Stay Hotels Are Less Expensive Than Apartments

Posted on: 25 March 2020

For those who are constantly on the road, such as traveling consultants, it may simply be impractical to rent an apartment. You'll hardly be home to use the apartment in the first place. However, while you may be concerned about the cost of an extended stay hotel, they are often cheaper than apartments and offer features not found with a typical apartment.

Surprisingly Affordable Rates

If you do the math, the monthly rate for an extended stay hotel can often be comparable to the rate of an affordable apartment. However, when renting most apartments, you'll be responsible for several other expenses that wouldn't exist with an extended stay hotel.

No Furnishing Required

All hotels come with a bed. However, extended stay hotels will often come with other types of furniture such as chairs, tables, a dresser, and even a couch. An apartment is not only expensive to furnish, but you also have to worry about what happens to it. You must maintain your furniture and pay money to transport and store it.

No Utilities

Most extended stay hotels come with cable and Internet. This allows you to eliminate two bills and further reduce the cost of everyday life. You also won't have to pay for electricity and won't have to worry about using too much.

Free Supplies

Hotels will come with free supplies. Many supply shampoo, soap, toilet paper, and towels. Many of these supplies are not expensive, but every little bit helps. You also won't have to pay for cleaning supplies because housekeeping is handled for you.

Extended Stay Often Comes with Amenities

A typical hotel will supply a microwave. However, you may not have access to other necessities that you would usually have in your apartment, such as a stove, oven, freezer, and a large fridge. However, an extended stay hotel will have most of the amenities found in an apartment.

More Freedom

Renting an apartment comes with many hassles. You must pass a credit check and complete a rental process that can be inconvenient. Apartments are not always immediately ready to move in. You also cannot simply leave an apartment when you're ready. With a hotel, you are free to checkout at any time. You may lose some of the money that was paid to the hotel, but if business brings you abruptly to a new city, you won't have to pay double the rent to break the lease.
